PAIRWORK. DISCUSS THE FOLLOWING TOPICS IN PAIRS.

TOPIC 1: HOME EDUCATION

 -What do you think it is?

-In your opinion, why is it/isn't it a good idea?


Student A

You are in favour of educating your children at home

(you have 2 minutes to think of possible advantages/arguments in favour)

Student B

You are against home education

(you have 2 minutes to think of possible disadvantages/arguments against)

 

TOPIC 2: SOCIAL NETWORKING.

-Has it changed social relationships? In what way?

-How many of your facebook, etc, friends, are real friends? What would change in your life if you were not on facebook, etc, anymore?

 

Student A

You are mother or a father whose child (B) is always connected to the Internet/her or his mobile phone. Try and convince her/him that it is a waste of time, those are not real friends, meeting them in real life is better, etc.

 

Student B

You are a teen who loves spending time chatting to people on the Internet/ through your phone. You do not like your image very much, that's why you feel more secure if you do not actually meet people. Defend your behaviour.

 

TOPIC 3: LIVING TO BE A HUNDRED

-Would you like to live to be a hundred or more?

-What do you need to do if you want to try and achieve this goal?

-What are the disadvantages of this?

Student A

You don't want to live to be older than 70. Think of possible reasons first.

Student B

You disagree with B. In your opinion, the older you live to be, the better.

Think of ideas that support your view.
