WHAT WOULD YOU DO? and SHOWING ALLIANCE IN LGTB-UNFRIENDLY SITUATIONS

GROUP DYNAMICS. WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Step one: Think of  a situation (one of each) that can be

Embarrassing

Strange

Challenging

Difficult

Scary

Step two:

Produce five questions (one per situation) like this one and with this structure:

What would you do/say if someone bit your leg.

Notice that the structure is:

QUESTION WORD + WOULD + SUBJECT + BASE FORM + IF + SUBJECT + PAST SIMPLE

This is called the second (and improbable) conditional and it is used to hypothesize.

Step three:

Go around asking everybody all your questions and make a note of the most surprising or original answers. You will  have to report them to the rest.

Step four:

Report your answers like this:  x (NAME OF THE PERSON ) would + base form + if + subject + past simpel +...

Example: Sandra would move her leg away and be astonished if somebody bit it.

Step five: The class has to say if  they would do something different and discuss what the best actions would be!

 SHOWING ALLIANCE IN LGTB-UNFRIENDLY SITUATIONS

 Common ally questions

This is a youtube channel made by an ex-student

Now, what would you do? Would you be part of the problem or part of the solution?

If a friend came out and their friends (your friends) showed astonishment

If a teacher made a homophobic comment in class.

If you found out one of your classmates' family has turned their backs on her/him because they have openly talked about their non-heterosexual orientation.

Think of other situations and ask the class. What would you do?

Here there is a presentation on conditionals
